We've had a great two days of school! Students are working and being persistent with their combination locks. We've had a few frustrated moments but the big Ohhhhhhhhhh is the best when they finally get it.
In science we played a team building game called Saving Sam. Students had to save Sam (a gummy worm) from drowning (touching the table). They had to get a life jacket on Sam which was a gummy life saver (pun). They could not use their fingers to touch Sam, the life jacket or the overturned cup which was Sam's boat. Students had fun trying to figure out how to save same. After the game we had a class discussion about what the activity was about. They came up with teamwork, communication, persistence, practice and planning. This was great!!!
In Design & Engineering we learned about a L.A. Street Artist named Thank You X. We're using his Artistic Design to create a Collaborative Mural. My plan is to use this awesome opportunity to crossover all three of my classes as much as I can. I want students to question what class they are in all the time! We'll be working on the mural for the rest of the week. Come back to see the final project next week.
